Video Marketing Strategy vs Tactics

In the last of our series on Online Marketing Strategy vs Tactics, let's take a look at your video marketing strategy and how that fits in with everything we have been talking about so far in terms of exactly what your strategy is and how all of your online marketing efforts tie together to create a coherent whole.

If you missed any of the posts in this series, you can press rewind and start from here:   Do You Have An Online Marketing Strategy or Are You Operating At The Level of Tactics?

[Online Marketing Strategy] Three Steps To A Better "Video Marketing Strategy"

I think the video pretty much says it all but just to recap, if you are looking to operate at the level of video marketing strategy as opposed to tactics, you need to be able to find answers to the questions:

  • How can you use your videos to make yourself look a little different and stand out in the crowd?
  • How can you make your videos more interactive?
  • How can you really create a visual experience for your customers?
  • How can you take your videos to the place where your customers naturally are already?
  • How can you most effectively use video to integrate your offline and online marketing strategies?

Essentially, I think where most people fall down is in thinking that having a video on their website or up on YouTube is a strategy in and of itself. The ‘strategy’ is in how does that video fit in with the rest of your marketing message? How are people going to find it? Where does it fit in with the rest of your marketing – both online and offline. What is the Purpose of that video? Where do you send people after they watch it? All those things go toward making up a coherent video marketing strategy, not just ‘Yes, we do YouTube’.

This entire series was inspired by the quote:

"Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat." Sun Tzu

If you have any comments, thoughts or opinions to throw out there, I'd love if you wanted to 'jump into the fray' and leave your comments below.

And of course, if you found the post useful, taking a second to share it on for me … I get a warm fuzzy feeling when you do that 🙂

Many thanks!

Happy Video Marketing,
